January 1st, 1818 , in the Morillos de Perales, O’Higgins signs a provisional act as a gesture of defiance against the Spanish leadership. In this glorious and transcendent moment in which Chile is named as a sovereign state, there is no motive for our country to maintain links with Spain, but the cultural and linguistic identification remain, determining the future means of its rich manifestations. Chile, incorporated into the league of Independent States, begins the most definitive chapter of its history, now without consulting the Spanish Crown.
